Objectives
The objectives of the project are:
General objective:
To contribute to increased cooperation and innovation in promoting inclusion and diversity at organization level and policies in the field of education and training.
Specific objective 1:
To build capacity on awareness raising within educational community about the impact of climate change as a driver of migration
To achieve this first objective, the project will produce the following concrete results:
1) A 100-pagespublication about the impact of climate change on migration, a part of which will be also published in the Africa Portal;
2) A 40-pages toolkit on how to support teachers, youth workers and social workers addressing the link between climate change and migration.
The project has also a second specific objective, which is to promote best practice exchange on capacity building on awareness raising within educational community about the impact of climate change as a driver of migration.
The aiming of this specific objective will lead to the achievement of the following results:
1) the presentation and exchange of the publication and the toolkit with 27 members of the organization participating to the project during an international workshop to be held in Belgium;
2) the presentation and exchange of the publication and the toolkit during 6 local workshops;
3) The presentation and exchange of the publication and the toolkit during 6 webinars.
These objectives and results are directly linked to the priorities selected for the project: Environment and fight against climate change: The project seeks to increase knowledge and awareness about the impact of climate change on migration, which is a critical issue related to climate change and its impacts on the environment.
Supporting teachers, school leaders, and other teaching professions: The project aims to develop a toolkit to support teachers, youth workers, and social workers in addressing the link between climate change and migration, which is a key priority for supporting education professionals.
Target Groups
The target groups of the project are:
School teachers: The project aims to provide knowledge and tools to support teachers in addressing the impact of climate change as a driver of migration and in promoting inclusion and diversity in school setting.
Youth workers: The project aims to provide knowledge and tools to support youth workers in addressing the impact of climate change on migration, and in promoting inclusion and diversity in youth centers.
Social workers: The project aims to provide knowledge and tools to support social workers in addressing the impact of climate change on migration, and in promoting inclusion and diversity in social workers setting.
Members of the organization: The project aims to involve 27 members of the organizations (through the international workshop) from different European countries (Belgium, Italy, Spain, Greece and Ethiopia) in order to foster cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange.
Local communities: The project aims to disseminate the toolkit and publication to 520 people (through the local workshops and the webinars) belonging to the target group at the local level, in order to promote the adoption of innovative and effective solutions to the challenges posed by climate change and migration.
The project targets stakeholders in the field of education and training, as well as members of local communities who can benefit from the knowledge and tools provided by the project.
Innovation
Focus on climate change and migration: according to the research we have carried out, while there is a growing awareness about the impacts of climate change, including its effects on migration, there are few initiatives that focus specifically on building capacity on awareness raising and promoting engagement with the topic and therefore this project is unique in its emphasis on the link between climate change and migration.
Use of a toolkit: The project includes the development of a toolkit to support teachers, youth and social workers in addressing the link between climate change and migration. This toolkit can be a practical and innovative resource that can help these professionals to promote awareness and engagement on this issue.
